Mica
Description
Mica is a silicate mineral that has almost perfect basal cleavage and pseudo-hexagonal, sheet-like crystal structure. These details explain what creates this image: water carrying microscopic quantities of elements such as iron and manganese have infiltrated between successive, microscopically thin layers of the material, and then migrated along, and spread out from, the triangular crystal lattice.
